          nylon but the best colours are obtained on wool.

These are also inexpensive.

  • Application, as suggested in fashion designing course with certificate- These are generally applied in presence of acids like sulfuric acid, acetic acid, or formic acid.

3. Basic Dyes

  • These are also called cationic dyes. Their positive charged part is responsible for colour.
  • These were the first synthetic dyes to be discovered. These are the most brilliant of all synthetic dyes.
  • These have a direct affinity of wool and silk and no affinity for cellulosic. On natural fibres their fastness is poor.
  • These give good fastness and brighter shades on acrylic and modacrylic fibres therefore these are used for acrylics more than protein fibres.

 

4. Mordant / Chrome Dyes

  • These dyes are attached to the textile fibres by a mordant which can be an organic or inorganic substance that has an affinity for both the fibre and the dye.
  • The most commonly used mordant, in a fashion designing course with certificate, is chromium therefore these dyes are called chrome dyes.
  • The fibres most readily dyed with these dyes are natural protein fibres, particularly wool.
  • Fastness properties are very good.
